THE BUSH HOUSE LODGE

We are away at the moment, from Monday- Saturday, at the above lodge in Madikwe Game reserve.  They really know how to treat guests like royalty.   The game we see without even leaving the camp is beyond belief.  The water flood lit  hole attracts the animals,  among most, last night we saw 4 Rhino, but it was a bit dark for photos.   The weather is warm and sunny so we are all thirsty and come to visit Pumpy and her old man!!!    If you have time come along and look  www.bushhouse.co.za there is a web cam as well, so what I see you can see as well.
I am off to have breakfast in  a few minutes,  no arranging for me, can walk along and be treated like a lazy lady..   There are Baboon drinking water now, they are naughty and vicious,  can jump into the camp quite easily.

Sometime a rest is all a Jumbo needs.

KRUGER PARK - SOUTH AFRICA

We took ourselves off to the Kruger park, if you follow this blog you will know that in the winter months we go around visiting the parks and saying hi to all the darlings we have been blessed with.

 Driving along looking, looking for something who should come up the road but the most beautiful of all
I took so many photos, and wash shaking with excietment was having trouble with the camera and husband, cause I was too slow.
This darling was out for his evening din dins , that was all he was thinking about, golly he was gorgeous,  would love to have put him in the back of the car.............

This is to show you how far we were away from him.  I just cannot express the excitement we felt.


We saw a number of Rhino, and buffalo buck and other animals, but not Lion,  next year will do or later in the year when we go to Madekwe.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK.

                                         Buffalo -  He can be a nasty boy if he wants to be.

                                          It was terrible hot here you can see these Elephants
                                          hiding  in the shade and to the left there was one lying
                                          down which you do not see very often, first time we
                                          have.
                 

                                         This is the Pestana Kruger Lodge.  We saw so much
                                         game while we were sitting on our balcony.  It was
                                         lovely and hope to go back again.

I have been sick and spent a weekend in ICU  Fibrillation of the heart.   It is a terrible place hospitals,  most of the staff are wonderful and gentle and friendly,  but then again,  My Goodness you can get the odd one should not be allowed near a hospital!!!!    I do not like to complain incase one has to go back and they remember you.   I am still not too well,  going back on Friday, and hope to be better again soon.
Have not done any challenges, but it is Tony's birthday on Monday, so I want to make his card to day, it is all cut yesterday so should make it then will enter it in a chllenge.   I never win much!!!!

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Tony and I go to the Park every year we,  like to go in the cooler months,  May - August,  if we are lucky it is not so hot then,  It is wonderful, so peaceful and relaxing do nothing but eat, drink and drive around looking for the animals, spending time watching them and hoping for something bigger and better around the next corner.   This year we stayed at Byamit it is a bush camp in the south of the Kruger National Park, pretty private there are only 15 bungalows there, no commercialization at all, so must make sure we take everything we want with us.

ELEPHANT - IN A BAD MOOD.

This happened last Saturday, in the Pelansburg Game Park, near Rustenburg. Luckily this does not often hapen !!!!! Aparently it was an eldely couple in the car and the lady was slightly injured the gentleman was fine, but they were in a terrible state. NO WONDER.
Many a time we have had elephants this close to the car, but not in a bad mood. Thank goodness.

NEWBORN GIRAFFE

Purdy the giraffe at the Lion Park in Lansearia, gave birth yesterday. The baby dropped 2m to the ground, knocking it to life. The newborn lay there, breathing and kicking.
But Purdy - was only vaguely interested in her offspring, sniffing it briefly before wandering off.
The baby giraffe woud have to be bottle-fed. But it took five people to control the newborn as they tried to feed her a mixture of milk and egg yolk. She bucked and kicked, less than 12 hours old and already as tall as a man. Eventually, she latched onto the teat and grew quiet, her wide eyes as big as fists as she had her first meal. The palm-sized ears darted furtively as her handlers stroked the teddy-bear fur and wiped away the dribble of mucas round her nose.
In time she'll take to one staff member, and that person will be able to do everthing with her.
For the next seven to eight months she'll drink about 20 litres of the milky and egg mixture maily and receive supplementry vitamin B shots.
I won't be until around March that she will leave her small pen for the enclosure where Purdy roams.
Once there, she'll learn how to browse like an adult giraffe in the wild, but it will always be a life in captivity for the new arrival.
For now, she had drunk her full and she was wrestled to the ground. She blinked her kohlringed eyes and lay her head down.
The Lion Park boasts eight large carnivore species, including lions, hyenas, cheetahs and jackals, and other animals such as black wildebeest and giraffes, which roam freely in a large antelope area.

The baby giraffe hasn't been named yet.

GOING AWAY.

Hi all my friends,
We are going away for a week, to the Kruger National Park, to see some of the wonderful animals Africa has been blessed with. Hope to get some very good photos. I might put them on flicker then if you like them you can download them, I think that is how it works.
You can feel summer is on its way now, the bite has gone out of the air.
Keep well and come and visit me often, I do so love to have you all calling and especally if you leave comments even if it is a few xxxx.

THE ANNE VAN DYK CHEETAH CENTRE

This is another place well worth a visit, after a exciting day at the football, or soccer. Take a day off and go and visit this wonderful Cheetah Center, see all the good some people do, and maybe you can even cuddle a little one.

PILANESBERG GAME RESERVE

We spent a wonderful time at this dam, watching this old Hippo, waiting for just this, big mouth to open.
The camps are very good, it is self catering or a restaurant for those who wish.



Another place for visitors to visit, about a 2 hour drive from Johannesburg.
It is near Sun City if you wish to Visit there or even stay there.
